Linde Werdelin just unveiled a couple of fantastic new pieces in its flagship SpidoLite II collection. Bold colors aside, the exciting thing about the new LW “Tech” series is its case — a combination of forged carbon and and a new ultra-light alloy that the brand has dubbed “ALW” (Alloy Linde Werdelin). The materials innovation here is a perfect — and I mean perfect — fit for LW’s already high-tech, modern design sport watches. The SpidoLite II design was just waiting for a case like this!
As you can see, the new SpidoLite II Tech features Linde Werdelin’s skeletonized case construction, but with now some exciting materials innovation. The multipart case construction utilizes a mix of forged carbon (outer case) and an ultra-light metal/alloy composite (inner case).
The inner case uses a branded alloy (exclusive to LW) — described by LW as almost 50% lighter than titanium. The outer case of the SpidoLite II Tech is forged carbon, shaped/skeletonized by a new technique developed by Linde Werdelin.
Another neat detail new to the SpidoLite series — the serial number of each piece in engraved in the recesses of the case:
The watch maintains the SpidoLite II’s skeletonized dial. The date wheels are treated with ceramic coating on Tech Green, and in rose gold on the Tech Gold.
44mm (w) by 46mm (l) by 15mm (h) case
The SpidoLite II Tech is powered by the automatic mechanical LW04/caliber 2251, made by Concepto exclusivel for Linde Werdelin. The movement is visible through the dial as well as through the sapphire crystal case-back, with decorative touches such as an engraved rotor, perlage, and blue screws.
SpidoLite II Tech Green is priced at $14,000 and the Tech Gold is $19,300 (rose gold) – each limited to 75 pieces.
Nicely done, LW. This is a very exciting addition to the Spido family. Can’t wait to see them in person.
