First look…engraved case…
Continuing now with another new model in the 2015 Panerai collection — the Radiomir Firenze 3 Days Acciaio, with a 47mm brushed steel case with engraving. Only 99 examples are being made, and each one is entirely decorated by the hand by expert Italian craftsmen. According to Panerai, the designs are inspired by recurrent motifs in Florentine iconography, such as the Florentine lily, the emblem of Tuscany’s most important city since the 11th century.

I’ve long been a fan of Panerai’s engraved pieces i.e. the Purdey for Panerai and the more recent Sealand issues, and I am fond of this watch. I think the Radiomir case makes an excellent template for engraving, and I’m sure that this piece will one day be a coveted collector’s item. But if you want one this year, you’ll need to go to Italy to get it — this piece will be sold exclusively in Officine Panerai’s historic Florence boutique in Piazza San Giovanni.
Did You Know?
The 47mm diameter case is the same dimensions as the first watch created by Officine Panerai in 1936.
