It was confirmed here first.  And now Perpetuelle brings you the first pics of 22-year old Jamaican sprinter Yohan Blake wearing a Richard Mille wristwatch during the 100m prelims  at the 2012 Olympics.  Update: We’ve got 100m finals pics, too!  Blake ultimately finished in second place, behind defending Olympic champion — and Hublot Ambassador — Usain Bolt.

UPDATE AUG 9, 2012:  Controversy ensues.  IOC cites violation of Rule 40, Bylaw 2 of the Olympic Charter.  Yohan Blake does NOT wear Richard Mille watch during the 200m final.

Full details on this piece are not expected to be made known by its maker, Richard Mille, until after the Olympics (citing Olympic policy regarding advertisements). But I can tell you that the watch has a Velcro strap and also that it is ultra-light and sport-ready — like Rafael Nadal’s RM027 watch (tennis), Bubba Watson’s RM038 (golf) and Pablo Mac Donough’s RM053 (polo). Oh, and ultra-expensive, if you might want one for yourself (six-figures, easy). The real question now is, does Blake have what it takes to best Usain Bolt to the finish line (or Tyson Gay, Asafa Powell, and Justin Gatlin, for that matter)?  My money’s on Bolt at the 100m finish line.  Update: And wisely so, as Bolt became the second man ever to win consecutive Olympic 100m gold medals (see Usain Bolt’s Hublot wristwatch here).
