Just over a month long ago, Officine Panerai presented the new PAM 523 Luminior Marina 1950 3 Days Automatic. Of note, this is the first watch from Panerai to incorporate the original combination of the 42MM Luminor 1950 case and a white dial.
Sharp eyes will notice the juxtaposition of the polished steel case and bezel against the brushed steel crown guard.
The date window at 3 o’clock and the small seconds dial at 9 o’clock are a hallmark of the Panerai design.
Inside is the Panerai manufacture P.9000 automatic caliber with three day power reserve — visible through sapphire caseback. The PAM523 is fitted with a brown alligator strap with a brushed steel buckle and it is supplied with the usual Panerai tools.
I have always been a fan of Panerai’s white dialed models, though there have not been many of them. Thus I think this is a nice addition to the lineup — not to mention the 42mm case size which I think fills a size gap for Panerai fans as well (most tend to be 40mm, 44mm, 47mm).
