Panerai PAM 360 “Paneristi” Edition

Celebrating 10 years of Paneristi…

Members of the Panerai Brotherhood known as “Paneristi” are weeping with joy over the July 1 announcement of a new, limited edition Panerai Luminor — aka the PAM360 — that will be produced specially to commemorate the 10 year anniversary of Paneristi.com (the unofficial and undisputed resource on all things Panerai):

Only 300 will be made — meaning that the PAM 360 is set to become one of the most highly coveted and sought after Panerai’s.  The Paneristi “Mod team” (the forum Moderators) along with some other key players appear to have helped design the watch and make it all happen.  The PAM360 is a 44mm Luminor with black PVD case, patina dial markers, and the “OP” logo:

Panerai Luminor “Paneristi” (PAM 360)

The case back has special commemorative language ala “Paneristi.com Tenth Anniversary”:

How exactly Panerai will allocate these watches is unknown (to me at least) — I only hope that it is done via a lottery or random drawing as opposed to a “political” process such as allocation as determined by the Mod team or according to one’s “contribution” to the website over the years.  The price will be $6,700 USD (5,500 EURO/630,000 JPY/52,500 HKD).

I really applaud Panerai and other brands such as IWC who make special edition watches such as these.  I think that these models payback almost unlimited dividends to the brands in the form of an even deeper passion and sense of loyalty amongst their most dedicated fans.

    Hallo Kyle,

Are you able to advise on the mov’t?
The price seems reasonable for a limited edition.

    Regards – Russell.

I think that the movement for the PAM 360 is an OP I from ETA base 6497/2 .

All credit to Panerai. More brands should be rewarding their devoted followers (rather than just the plain ordinary wealthy collectors) like this.

The only niggle I have is this; Paneristi got it’s name by mimicking the name of the F1 Ferrari fans. They were called the “Ferraristi”. Only they weren’t, they were called the Tifosi.

Your argument about Paneristi getting its name from mimicking the F1 fans is not really valid. “isti” is a latin perfect present ending meaning “I have” so the literal translation is “I have Panerai” With this, saying Paneristi got its name from copying the Ferraristi is like saying the word lov(ers) got its name from copying the word kill(ers). It is an ending added to a word to give it a tense or action.

      Best

    Hallo Jason,
You must be a scholar with a classical education. It’s a good analogy that you provide but most people have not studied linguistics and certainly not Latin.
I guess that you’ve heard the saying ‘He/she is a workaholic’ and this is an example where the incorrect affix is applied but it’s clear how the word was extrapolated (for want of a better term) from ‘alcoholic’. A rule was applied incorrectly but became adopted regardless and the same has happened with ‘Paneristi’ – no doubt that is was also ‘extrapolated’ from Ferraristi even though the rules of Latin were applied incorrectly.
That’s just how it goes because the people coining the expression did not know any better.
That’s my take on it anyway!
    Salve!
