At Baselworld 2013, Jaquet Droz (part of Swatch Group’s prestige portfolio along with Breguet, Glashutte, etc.) unveiled two new versions of its beautiful Grand Second Quantieme. The Grand Second Quantieme was first launched in 2011, a “grand second” in stainless steel with date display (shown below). This year’s new models — with chocolate brown or blue dials finished with vertical Geneva striping — look exquisite.
Jaquet Droz Grande Second Quantieme 2013
43mm stainless steel case (11.63mm thick), automatic mechanical JD caliber (double barrel), Blue or Chocolate Côtes de Genève and opaline applied ring, applied indications with rhodium treatment, hours/mins/seconds/date (via red tipped hand), fitted on rolled edge alligator strap
The only aspect I might change were I given the chance would be to reduce the 43mm case size a wee bit (maybe 40mm?).
Also new — and I think improved — are the hour and minute markers which are now simple stick/baton style rather than a blend of roman and arabic numerals.
Here is the 2011 model, as originally introduced:
