Swiss watch manufacturer IWC Schaffhausen has partnered with Universal Pictures for “The Bourne Legacy” which opens nationwide on August 10, 2012.  In the fourth movie of the “Bourne” series, lead actor Jeremy Renner’s character, Aaron Cross, sports an IWC Pilot’s Watch Double Chronograph Edition TOP GUN (Ref. IW 379901).

I find it somewhat curious that the IWC Top Gun Ref. 379901 featured in the movie  is no longer a production model for IWC — this watch is the predecessor to the current IWC Pilot’s Watch collection including the Pilot’s Watch Chronograph TOP GUN (IW388001) and the Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar TOP GUN (Ref. IW502902); even so, this is not a bad thing and overall this is a nice product placement for IWC.

The watch has a 46 mm case is made of black high-tech ceramic; the crown, push-buttons and back cover are made of matte grey titanium.  The Ref 379901 is powered by the automatic mechanical IWC 79230-caliber chronograph movement.

Will be interesting to see how the movie does without Jason Bourne (played by Matt Damon in previous Bourne movies)!
