IWC Ingenieur Carbon (IW3224)

SIHH 2013…

IWC’s first watch with a carbon case.  As new parter with the Mercedes AMG Petronas Formula One Team, it ’twas only  a matter of time, wasn’t it now?   The dial too is made of carbon fiber.  The rubber strap with its textile inlay is stitched either with yellow or red nylon thread, reminiscent of the stripes on the walls of soft and super-soft-slick tyres.  Rotor is also F1-style.  Nicely done.

Yeesh. This is one of those times when the view from the caseback looks better than the face. The other two IWC offerings are much better.

@Afrayedknot:disqus Though the caseback does look good, I thought these turned out nice overall! Very F1/racing-like.
Thanks for your comments, always appreciate your thoughts.

I guess it’s too much carbon fiber for my taste.

Maybe it was the over-the-top-huge Hublot King Power carbon fiber cases that forever ruined your appreciation of carbon fiber :-)

I think I just have something against carbon fiber in general :). Even in cars, I think it should be used sparingly.
