Girard Perregaux Hommage a Boucheron

Since it was opened in 1999, the Girard-Perregaux Museum in La Chaux-de-Fonds has exhibited major collections of the prestigious Swiss manufacture’s antique watches and historical documents. Now, while the museum is being renovated, Girard-Perregaux has organized a temporary exhibition at the House of Boucheron (26 place Vendôme – 75001 Paris). Boucheron and Girard-Perregaux have close ties and have collaboratd on a number of projects over the years, so it seems natural that GP is making a 50 piece limited edition watch in hommage to Boucheron. In addition to the moon-phase subdial notated with “BOUCHERON”, GP has also replaced the “Swiss Made” marking on the bottom of the dial with “26 Place Vendome” — the address of the prestigous Parisian jeweler.

I only wonder…will Maximillian Busser’s JWLRYMACHINE — another high profile horological collaboration with Boucheron — steal the show at 26 Place Vendome?

This seems like weak sauce to me – this is nothing more than a moon phase 1966 that’s has a slightly modified dial. I can’t imagine who would be interested in this other than a (highly paid) employee of Boucheron.

  I do not disagree with you, Geoff. “Boutique specials” or other special editions that merely markup the dial lack much sizzle. Hublot is another brand that does this a lot (they slap some organization’s logo on the dial and call it special) (or they offer the same watch in myriad colors) and I am generally not a fan of it.
  
  However I would add that so long as production is appropriately limited, these can make fine pieces for the individuals who derive sentimental value from them. 50 pieces seems a bit high for this particular piece, but I don’t have good insight into potential demand for something like this.
