UPDATE: Shortly following publication of this article, Bell & Ross has updated its webpage to note that this watch has “sapphire crystal with anti-glare coating, lined in colored mineral glass”

Cool looking military watch from Bell & Ross, with a blue ceramic case. The size is nice at 42mm, and the look is very stealth military. Note that the crystal is also tinted blue, very nice look ~~— but it is, peculiarly, mineral glass — scratching might be a problem~~. Price is $4,500 — unfortunately a bit high given the specs, but I still admire it from afar.

Is it really mineral glass? The B&R web site says it is sapphire, I think. Only the Radar with the red crystal is listed as mineral glass.

The B&R story is an interesting one and they certainly have been original in their thinking. But it is an expensive piece given that the heart of it is an ETA movement and I have not read or heard that the movements are embellished by B&R.

I believe that this is a two piece crystal. there is a colored mineral crystal that sits below the sapphire crystal or they are sandwiched together. It’s a nice piece. I recently purchased a Tsovet with an ETA for $1800. it also has a sapphire crystal and movement window on the case back. I’m a fan of both brands, so I’m biased.
