Motor oil in the dial…
Here’s very intriguing new piece from B.R.M. The CNT 44 GULF is a limited edition run of 100 pieces, with what is most certainly a first. BRM never ceases to impress me, and what they have done here is create a watch with a built-in container filled with motor oil! Check it out!
In fact the motor oil was used in the Lola LMP2 Gulf, driven by Gulf drivers. Or as BRM puts it “this oil participated in the greatest of all endurance races in 2012”! I must say that the oil looks pretty clean — must not have been used for long!
The watch has a 44mm brushed stainless steel case with black PVD finish (excluding lugs, crown). The crown is engraved with the Gulf logo, and of course the dial has the Gulf logo to with racing stripe. The racing-inspired lugs, crown, perforated strap and strap clasp are BRM through and through. The watch is an automatic movement, details otherwise unknown (I’ll try to get some insight on this).
Price on this piece is 5600 EUR. Again limited to 100 pieces.
BRM has some sort of license deal with Gulf because they also sell some super cool Gulf-branded gear and accessories as well (click image below to check it out).
For those of you who have seen the handful of B.R.M pieces I have featured in the past, you know that these B.R.M makes some incredibly cool and original watches. I really love B.R.M for knowing who they are. They have a very specific theme – racing watches – and they execute on that theme with an obvious passion. Well, they do also make a small series of aviator’s watches, though the B.R.M DNA is still very similar. B.R.M is not afraid to be different and it shows. In a good way.
