A case can be made for Hublot as being among the most pioneering and creative Swiss watch brands when it comes to branding & promotional partnerships. Its latest endeavor — the branding of its very own ski lift in Zermatt, Switzlerand — reinforces Hublot’s forward thinking mindset in this arena. Zermatt, in southern Switzerland’s Valais canton, is a mountain resort renowned for skiing, climbing and hiking. The town, at an elevation of around 1,600m, lies below the iconic, pyramid-shaped Matterhorn peak (as you can see in the background of the above photo).
The new HUBLOT EXPRESS ran its maiden voyage and was officially unveiled on November 25, 2016, just in time for the start of the winter ski season.
This summer, the Gant–Blauherd gondola lift, which had acquired cult status in the years since it was first opened in 1971, was replaced by a state-of-the-art six-seater chairlift. The new lift boasts the latest technical equipment and can carry up to 1,800 passengers an hour at a speed of 5 metres per second (over 11 miles per hour!).
The lift reinforces Hublot’s growing presence in Zermatt, where it opened its own boutique last year:
The powder-coated chairs with real leather seats will ensure passengers enjoy a comfortable ride – Hublot style!
