Panerai Luminor Marina 8 Days Titanium PAM 564

Panerai Luminor Marina Titanium PAM 564 Watch

As part of its 2014 lineup, Panerai is introducing five new entry-level Panerai Luminor timepieces (3 Luminor Base, 2 Luminor Marina).  All pieces are 44mm, 300m water resistance, powered by the new in-house P.5000 movement with 8 day power reserve (unveiled a few months back), and fitted on a distressed leather strap with a Pre-V style buckle.  I’ll post each one separately so you can get a good look at each.   Here is the Luminor Base 8 Days PAM 564.  Price is €6800 (~US$9200) at current f/x).

Does anyone know anything about the quality of the P5000 movement compared to for example the P999? Best regards, Jan

I don’t have any direct feedback on that. but here are a few quick thoughts.. In theory from a quality perspective they should be similar in quality as both are made by Panerai in-house. There is an obvious power reserve (8 days p5000 vs 60 hrs P999) difference and a few other spec differences. The P999, to me, is unquestionably a finer looking caliber — with its swan neck adjustment and more visible components. The p.5000 looks much more industrial and less pleasing to the eye.

Thank you very much for your feedback, appreciate it!
So if you were to choose between the Radiomir Historic 1940 PAM 512 and the new Luminor Marina 8 days you would go for the Radiomir? Best regards, Jan

Sure! A tough decision, but if I had to pick one, I would go for the PAM 512. Happy watch hunting! Kyle
