This is a 30-second spot produced by Maurice Lacroix.
I like this watch and think that ML is making some good moves as it attempts to move up the “status chain” in the world of watches. But lately it seems that whenever I see a new watch commerical / clip, I always ask myself “Why does every watch commercial look the same?” You know, a bunch of swirling watch parts that ends up as a complete watch. Seriously, that’s how they all seem! (except for the wonderful A. Lange Richard Lange Pour le Merite commercial I posted the other day!)
Anyway, as I say Maurice Lacroix seems very intent on becoming a prime time player in the world of haute horlogerie – and the brand’s 2009 BASELWORLD pre-releases definitely back that up.

This is one of the most beautifully composed watch videos I have ever seen.
Way to go A. Lange!!

OK, I admit – Tissot is not a brand that usually catches my eye…..but something about this watch just reached out and grabbed me….as if it were speaking right to my heart…..I just can’t figure out what it is about this watch that has my attention……how about you?

Breitling crowns its 125 years of passion for chronographs with the launch of its own high-performance movement.

Breitling is marking an important date in its history by unveiling Caliber B01, its first chronograph “motor” designed and built entirely in-house. It is a logical evolution for a brand that has played a major role in developing the wrist chronograph, and is counted among the leading makers of this complication. It is a perfectly consistent choice for one of the last independent Swiss watchmakers, which is thereby ensuring its freedom to maneuver and loyalty to its own criteria for excellence.

Through 125 years and five generations, Breitling has tied its name closely to the development of aviation, sports, technology, sciences and industry – all of these being areas that require reliable and accurate measuring instruments. With the B01, the company is more than ever confirming its calling to accomplish challenging feats, and beginning a new chapter in a history already replete with great moments in the air, on land and beneath the seas.

Ace Jewelers, a family owned, Netherlands-based Authorized Dealer (AD) for Breitling, IWC, Omega, Oris, Rado, Tag Heuer and others, has set-up its fourth shop – on the Internet!
Now this is quite interesting in many ways and on many levels, given that the major watch brands are yet to establish a model (at least a transparent one) for allowing their AD’s to directly sell and thus benefit from the Internet. Ace Jewelers is thus stepping out on a limb here and being a pioneer of sorts (I am not aware of other ADs who have done this) – for which I say
to Ace Jewelers! After all, all ADs are surely facing constant and fierce competition from the online Un-Authorized grey dealer counterparts, and it is thus only natural that they take steps to make themselves more competitive.

Ace appears to have done a nice job with its new website – the site is well designed, with nice search features, easy access to customer service (online “live chat” or offline, good FAQs section etc.) and with all the necessary ‘e-commerce’ functions built in. I have not purchased a watch from Ace and so can not attest to the e-commerce features (the billing, transaction process itself), but these kinds of things are pretty straightforward so I would anticipate a positive experience in this regard.
Check out Ace’s new website for yourself and see what you think - http://www.acejewelers.com. Perpetuelle will continue to follow this site’s venture into uncharted territory for you.
Also – you can learn more about this same topic over at Fratello Watches: Ace Jewelers Goes Shopping Cart and Monochrome: Ace Juwelers Online, two other good watch blogs (also based in the Netherlands and know Ace Jewelers well) where I read and where I first learned about this interesting move by Ace Jewlers.
